SUMMARY: Working under the direction of the IT Director, performs activities and services relating to Software Application Development and Software Support for the company. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following and are intended to represent the principal elements of this position. They are not totally inclusive and other duties may be assigned. Provides Software Application Development and Support for projects as assigned by IT Director including: *Reviewing business requirements and/or requests for program change. *Conducting additional user interviews and data gathering activities to obtain detailed project requirements as necessary. *Identifying the software development tasks required and formulating solutions to solve business problem. *Reviewing and obtaining agreement/consensus from IT Director on proposed IT solutions and project parameters including estimate of hours required to complete project or assigned task. *Designing and constructing applications to be developed or changed, using Informix 4GL or other agreed upon solution or technology. *Installing program changes and performing all related data conversion activities *Providing user training on new applications and conducting any post install support and monitoring necessary. *Documenting, according to departmental procedures, all project development activities. Provides Technical support and acts as front-line end user support when necessary by determining whether the support requires immediate or planned action and involving IT director as appropriate Regularly documents tech support problems and resolutions. Performs other duties both within and outside department as assigned or requested. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Bachelor's degree (B.S.) from four-year college or university with appropriate course work in computer technology and general business is preferred. Must have 3+ years' prior software development experience and ability to support multiple platforms. Prior demonstrated experience with Informix 4gl, SQL.& Informix Dynamic Server is required.
